Fiji’s domestic airline, Fiji Link is ready to resume domestic flights safely, as it anticipates the progressive lifting of local Containment Zones however only fully vaccinated people and people with exemptions from the Ministry of Health and those under 18 years will be allowed to travel.

Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO, Andre Viljoen says domestic flights between Suva and Nadi will be the first to resume, in line with an anticipated announcement by Government allowing free travel within Viti Levu.

This comes as Fiji’s vaccination drive progresses past the 60% fully vaccinated mark for the eligible population.

In the interest of safety and in line with medical advice, Viljoen says all passengers will be required to show their vaccination card confirming their fully vaccinated status in either physical or digital form at the check-in desks for issuance of a boarding pass.

He says both Fiji Link and Fiji Airways have led safeguards in domestic and international travel since 2020 through their Travel Ready programme.

Prior to the shutdown of domestic flights in April 2021, Fiji Link had already mandated masks on board for all passengers, as well as a requirement for temperature checking and having the careFIJI app installed on personal devices.

To further reduce contact and give customers peace of mind, Fiji Link has also enabled self-scanning of printed or digital (mobile) boarding passes at the Boarding Gate.

Fiji’s Containment Zones are expected to be lifted in stages, and Fiji Link will follow these by rolling out domestic flight schedules accordingly. All Fiji Link pilots, cabin crew, engineers, and active airport ground staff in Nadi and Suva are fully vaccinated.

Hand sanitisers are available to all guests for use.

All other Fiji Link safety measures remain in place including Personal Protective Equipment use by all staff and crew and daily sanitisation of all aircraft.

Guests are also requested to bring their own masks.
