Two restaurants in Savusavu were ordered to close after receiving ‘D’ ratings during routine grading, food hygiene and safety compliance checks carried out by Food Health Inspectors from the Cakaudrove Health Office last week.

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services says the two restaurants were given ‘D’ ratings due to critical non-compliance issues and were immediately served with Closing Orders requiring them to cease operations.

They say one of the restaurants has since successfully completed all required corrective actions, been regraded and officially allowed to reopen for business.

The Ministry says the second establishment has not yet met the required standards and remains closed.

They say to ensure clarity and ongoing compliance with the Food Establishment (Grading) Regulation 2012, both operators were thoroughly advised of the mandatory statutory steps governing restaurant closures and the rectification process.

They add that the operators were also advised of their specific legal rights and obligations under Part 3 of the Grading Regulation.
