Waiqele College have secured their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship Open Grade Girls competition after beating Labasa College 1-0 in the quarter-finals.
Team Manager Anjini Chand says she is proud of the girls' achievement and has expressed her gratitude to God Almighty, the team's sponsors, parents, school management and teachers for their support in helping the team reach the semi-finals..
Chand says the girls gave their best in the quarter-final and she is confident they can reach the final and retain the trophy in Labasa.
Tavua College also advanced to the semi-finals after beating Nukuloa College 2-1, while Dreketi Central defeated Suva Muslim College 1-0 and Lekutu Secondary School beat Pandit Vishnu Deo Memorial College 2-0.
The semi-finals are scheduled to be played later today between 2pm and 3.30pm.
