Manava Performing Arts dancer Jeremy Paul says it was exciting for the group to perform at the event as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Paul says the atmosphere was lively, with children, young people and older members of the community coming together to enjoy the music, performances and other activities.
He says it was also good to see people taking time out to relax, have fun and enjoy the event together.
Beyond the entertainment, Paul says events such as the American Showcase give Fijians an opportunity to learn more about other cultures.
He says Fiji is a multicultural country, and experiencing another country’s music, food, fashion and traditions can help people better understand different cultures.
Paul says there is often more to a culture than what people may see or know from the outside, and events such as the American Showcase allow people to experience some of those traditions for themselves.
