Saneem sues Tikoisuva, Rabuku, Chew and others for $5M
Counsel for the Office of the AG and Saneem’s counsel
Former Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem is suing Acting Director of Public Prosecutions Nancy Tikoisuva, Deputy DPP John Rabuku, former Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew, CID investigator Suliasi Dulaki, Police Constable Tomasi Lagikula and the Attorney General for $5 million after he was acquitted of a charge of receiving a corrupt benefit.

Saneem’s counsel, Christine Naicker, is also opposing the Office of the Attorney General’s representation of Tikoisuva, Rabuku, Chew, Dulaki and Lagikula, as they are being sued in their personal capacities.

Saneem and former Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum were found not guilty of corruption-related charges by Chief Justice Salesi Temo in June this year.

The case was called in the Civil High Court before Master Vandhana Lal.

It has been filed on the grounds of malicious prosecution, breach of constitutional rights, false imprisonment and misfeasance in public office, which refers to wrongful or unlawful conduct by a public official while exercising their public powers.

Saneem’s counsel Christine Naicker has filed the writ of summons, while the Office of the Attorney General has filed its statement of defence.

She is seeking an interlocutory judgment against them.

The matter has been adjourned to 8th December to fix a hearing date.
