The President and Tui Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu has urged the people Lau to extend their fishing boundaries so they can earn more from their resources.
While opening the Lau Provincial Council meeting, Ratu Naiqama acknowledged the resilience of the people of Lau, moving to the mainland and making a name for themselves.
He also acknowledged the leadership of the Turaga na Tui Nayau, Sau Ni Vanua o Lau and Tui Lau Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba, saying that he is one of the leaders that has assisted his people in many ways.
He says when the boats stopped operating, Tui Nayau's ship continues to operate.
Ratu Naiqama adds the people of Lau can earn more if they make use of their natural resources.
Ratu Naiqama was a accorded a traditional welcome ceremony by the people of Matuku at the GCC Ground in Nasese.
