Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the Constitution Review Commission report should be made public, and will be released after Cabinet meets.
While this process is being undertaken, Rabuka stresses that we must have the elections by February 6th 2027 and if things are not ready, then the elections will be held under the existing laws and regulations.
Rabuka says an electronic version of the review report will also be available and will probably be posted for people to look at rather than having to access the voluminous physical document.
When questioned on whether Government intends to select certain recommendations from the report rather than present it in its entirety, Rabuka says they will not be picking certain parts.
He says most of the report will be presented to the public and to the committee that will consider it, before it is debated in Parliament as a whole.
When asked whether the next general elections would still be held under the current Constitution if the constitutional review process proceeds, Rabuka says this will depend on how much progress has been made or they would have done before the elections timeline which is by February 6th 2027.
