The Commerce Commission of Fiji is talking to a fresh produce company in the country, Turners and Growers to sell cooking oil and lamb chops as well.
Commission’s Chairman, Dr Mahendra Reddy said that since Turners and Growers started selling fruit and vegetables from 2010, they have seen a decrease in the prices of onions, potatoes, carrots, celery and other fresh produce.
He said the Commission is currently in talks with the Company to diversify its items on the produce outlined.
He said they decided to talk about lamb chops and cooking oil as meat is not under price control while cooking oil which is consumed by every household in the country is quite expensive.
Turners and Growers are expected to comment on the matter later today.
