By eliminating illegal operations by vans around the country the average passenger per bus will increase.
Outgoing President of Fiji Bus Operators Association Zain Dean said illegal operation affects their income and this should be eliminated.
Dean has called on Land Transport Authority to strengthen communication and collaboration with them so that prior to enforcement of the new requirements LTA consults and take in views of the association.
He said LTA should allow a given time to operators to comply with the standard until such time it becomes a norm.
He added for example the impositions made over night to reduce diesel emission from 50% to 30% which is impossible.
Dean said more consultations needs to be conducted.
Meanwhile Chairman for Coral Sun Fiji Limited, Richard Lal was elected the new president of the Fiji Bus Operators Association.
Two years after serving the association Zain Dean retired from his position.
