Fiji is continuing to have talks and sign diplomatic relations agreements with a number of countries to ensure that Fiji is not reliant only on countries like Australia and New Zealand.
Over the past few weeks agreements have been signed with Afghanistan and Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama is currently in Abu Dhabi to negotiate trade and investment deals.
It may also see funding assistance for infrastructure development.
A few weeks ago talks were also held with Russia with the Russian Foreign Minister visiting Fiji.
They have also offered assistance to Fiji.
However details are yet to be revealed.
China also continues to assist Fiji through various loans for housing and infrastructure projects.
Yesterday China gave a US$50,000 grant to assist the Fiji government in running the Melanesian Spearhead Group Plus Summit next month.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has told Fijivillage that there are various opportunities available and Fiji will be signing a number of agreements in the near future.
Meanwhile the historic meeting of Arab League leaders and Pacific Island Nations is currently underway in Abu Dhabi.
Commodore Bainimarama and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum are attending the meeting.
Leaders of the Pacific Island states, including Fiji, will be hoping to tap into the $5.25 billion in foreign economic aid offered annually by the United Arab Emirates.
