Former All Black lock Brad Thorn's Super Rugby season is over and the question now is whether it's the end of his career.
Thorn tore a bicep in the Highlanders win over the South African side, the Bulls in Dunedin on Friday and requires surgery.
The Highlanders say the nature of the injury and the recovery period mean its unlikely Thorn will return to the field this season.
The 39 year old Thorn was on a one year deal with the Highlanders for the 2014 season but had previously said he'd like to play a season of Super Rugby as a 40 year old.
The Highlanders are on a bye this week.
On Friday, the Blues take on the Hurricanes at 7.35pm while the Rebels play the Force at 9.40pm.
