As a result of the low supply of copra at the mill in Savusavu, the Copra Millers of Fiji Limited is now in talks with farmers in Kiribati to import coconut.

Board chairman Ilisoni Taoba said in order to keep the mill running, an average of 1,000 tonnes of copra per month is needed but as a result of the cyclone last year, this target cannot be met.

He stressed that to keep the mill running, they need to import coconuts into Fiji.
