The restrictions placed under the Public Emergency Regulation which is in place since April 2009 will be lifted when work starts on the new constitution and the 2014 election.
While answering questions during a Citizen's Constitutional Forum public lecture at USP last night, Sayed-Khaiyum said there will be complete freedom when the constitution and electoral process begins.
According to Fiji’s roadmap to democracy, electronic voter registration is expected to start on January 1st next year and is expected to be completed by July next year.
Work on the new constitution is expected to commence in September next year and Fiji’s new constitution is expected to be ready by September 2013.
It has also been confirmed that Fiji will have the next general elections in September 2014.
