The 38 year old employee of Post Fiji who pleaded guilty to nine counts of embezzlement by officer including the theft of $30,000 from Nausori airport has been further remanded in custody by Magistrate Thusara Ragasinghe today.

Filimoni Jale appeared in court today with his wife Eseta Nakaukaucagi who pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting her husband.

Nakaukaucagi has been granted bail

It is alleged that Jale while being the Permanent reliving
postal assistant at the Laucala Beach Mail center between January in 2008 up until this month took one video iPod, 1 iPhone, 2 digital cameras, assorted clothing and jewelry, NZ$120 and on the 9th of July stole $30,000 which was a remittance between Post Offices and was reported missing from Nausori airport.

FICAC Henrietta Matakitoga this morning informed the Court that Jale had allegedly conspired and shared the $30,000 that was remittance for Post Fiji allegedly stolen in July this year with four other staff members and a relative, with Jale's share being $9,600.

FICAC had objected to bail saying that the case was still being investigated and that there was a likelihood that other people could be involved and it was highly likely that he would interfere with witnesses as investigations were still underway.

The Court also heard that when he was arrested, Jale had 127 mail on him.

The matter will be called again today where FICAC is expected to submit a full statement of offence.

Jale is expected to appear in Court again on the 14th of next month while his wife is expected to appear on the 17th of November.
