Construction works almost complete at Nadarivatu Hydro project
About 90 percent of the construction works at the Nadarivatu Renewable Energy Hydro project have been completed.

This has been revealed by the construction manager Laurence Svirchev while speaking to media personnel while on tour at the site yesterday.

Svirchev said the dam construction at the upper reaches of the Sigatoka River began in 2009 and is expected to be completed at the end of this year.

The dam is 30 meters high from the water level and is 87 meters wide, which can store 1 billion litres of water.

Water from the dam is supplied through a 2km tunnel which then conveys the water to the power station at the Ba River.

Shirchev added when completed, the dam would have a power capacity of 41.7 megawatts.

Construction is being done by the China based Sino-Hydro Corporation Limited company to construct the project which is estimated to cost $283.2 million.
