Health Ministry officials are currently looking for any symptoms of Influenza A H1N1 amongst the 1,600 passengers of the Pacific Star which docked at the Savusavu whalf at around 8:30 this morning.
Speaking from Savusavu, Health Ministry Spokesperson Iliesa Tora confirmed that all precautionary measures have been initiated.
Meanwhile, as a man remains quarantined in Nadi after being confirmed with Influenza A H1N1, Tora stressed that the detection methods being used are not full proof as the flu has a seven day incubation period.
The public is being urged to exercise extra precautions in avoiding the spread of the virus by washing your hands properly, covering you mouth when you sneeze or cough and report to medical authorities if you think you have a symptom of the virus, that is a flu like symptoms and constant sneezing.
So far only 1 case of the H1N1 virus is reported in Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Samoa.
