High Court acquits man of rape charge

A Nausori man charged with two counts of rape is a free man now after he was acquitted by the Suva High Court this morning.

High Court Judge Justice Sitabaram Pillai Thurairaja delivered his verdict saying that no evidence was found against the man.

Judge Justice Thurairaja said that a medical examination was carried out on the wife but no injuries were found on her.

He also accepted the assessors’ verdict of not guilty and told the man that he can go home.
