Tropical Cyclone Funa continues to move towards the Fiji group and the Nadi Weather Office said on its current path it is expected to pass closer to the Fiji then earlier anticipated.
Center Director Rajendra Prasad said Tropical Cyclone Funa is now moving in an Eastward direction and a strong wind warning will be issued for the Southern and Western parts of the country by this evening.
And after Tropical Cyclone Daman, which earlier hit Cikobia defied all global predictions, Prasad said with Tropical Cyclone Funu expected to form into a Hurricane by tomorrow, it could pose a greater threat to the Fiji group.
A strong wind warning remains in force for Southern and Western parts of the country including Southwestern Vitilevu, Kadavu, Vatulele, Beqa and nearby small islands from tomorrow.
A flash flood warning is also in force for the low lying areas of Viti Levu as the trough of low pressure is still over the group and is expected to bring continuous heavy rain.
