The organizers of an Anti-Bullying Campaign in Fiji have come out strongly on bullying or the use of homophobic stereotypes to single out, harass and abuse students in schools.
Fiji’s Make a Stand Against Bullying Movement said bullying comes in the form of discrimination and exclusion and can affect school attendance, school dropouts and poor academic performance.
And, to mark International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia tomorrow, the book “The Sound of Silence” will be launched.
According to author Lorraine Foster, this will be Fiji’s first ever collection of the accounts of those who are gay or otherwise identified as lesbian, bisexual or as the transgender community.
Meanwhile, tomorrow the local gay community’s first ever march will be held in Suva at 5.30pm from the flea market to Sukuna Park.
