With seven days remaining for all telephone and mobile phone users to register, Telecom Fiji Limited has urged its customers to register now rather than wait for the last day.
Group Manager Marketing and Public Relations Vanessa Kilner said customers should register now to avoid disconnection as it clearly stated in the Telephone Services Decree that those who do not register within the time frame will be suspended.
The decree came into effect on the 21st day of last month and the time frame for all telephone and mobile phone user comes to an end next Sunday.
Under the decree, service providers shall require all customers to provide the name and date of birth, permanent home address or address in Fiji if visiting, photo identification and parent or guardian's signature if the customer is below 18 years of age.
Under the decree a service provider who fails to cancel communications services within two weeks after the expiry of the time frame for each telephone number which has not been registered at that date shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a maximum fine of $200,000.
