Political differences lead to racial segregation

Political differences lead to racial segregation
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has today stressed to the Tailevu Provincial Council that the major downfall for the people in Fiji is the political differences that arise which leads to racial segregation.

Commodore Bainimarama said that this racial segregation sipped in during elections where people voted along racial lines, and that caused the Fijians to say that they have been robbed off their wealth and possessions.

The Prime Minister said as a result of racial segregation most of the native land that was leased out to sugarcane farmers was not renewed, mainly in the Western and Northern Divisions.

This he said resulted in the tenants moving out and the landowners lost their source of income from their tenants, and as a result the land is now left idle, and is now filled with paragrass and guava trees.

The Tailevu Provincial Council meeting is currently being held at the Tailevu North High School in Korovou.
