Telecom Fiji Limited has started terminating the services of customers who did not register their phones under the Telephone Services Decree.

TFL's Chief Executive Officer Rohan Mail said that 90% of their customers have registered however TFL commenced disconnection of unregistered services on 23rd September.

He said losing customers is never an option however regulations have such impacts.

Mail said TFL is compelled to disconnect unregistered services or face hefty fine of $200,000 for each unregistered service that is not disconnected.

He added that customers who have been disconnected can go to any TFL Centre and get re-connected by getting registered as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Vodafone's Managing Director Aslam Khan said they are currently discussing their next step and cannot make any comments as yet.

Inkk Mobile and Digicel are yet to comment on the issue.
