Emotional farewell for Sigatoka man who died following an alleged assault

As 38-year-old Vimal Vikash Nand who was allegedly assaulted on Sunday was laid to rest in an emotional ceremony at the Koromumu Cemetery in Sigatoka today, charges are yet to be laid against those who beat him up.

Hundreds of people gathered in Kulukulu to pay their last respects to the Sigatoka family today.

While speaking during the funeral service, a close friend of the family said Nand was a kind hearted and a loving man who will always be remembered for his hardworking and kind nature.

He says he was a person of a good character and was very dedicated to his work and family.

He adds Nand was a quite and gentle person who was respectful to others and loved sports.

The close friend says Nand was also a great supporter and a true fan of the Fijian Drua team and the Spain Football team.

It is alleged that Nand and his sons were assaulted on Sunday by the two suspects following a confrontation over an incident involving one of Nand's farm animals.

Police investigations continue.
