The disruption affects communities from Delainavesi through to Togalevu Naval Base, including Nadonumai, Vugalei, Suvavou, Lami Town, Veisari, and surrounding areas.
The Water Authority of Fiji says the 375mm water main burst was discovered at around 5am while crews were carrying out water supply restoration works.
WAF says the burst is located just before Delainavesi Bridge, and with no alternative supply line available, water supply is shut to allow repair works to begin.
WAF says it will be able to provide a definite timeframe for repairs and the restoration of water supply once the damaged section of the pipeline has been exposed.
People in higher elevation areas are already experiencing water disruptions, while those in lower-lying areas may notice low water pressure before supply is completely cut off.
WAF says people in higher areas, already affected by the Suvavou Village water main burst over the weekend, will continue to experience disruptions until the latest repairs are completed.
WAF further says schools, health facilities, and other essential services along the affected corridor will be given priority for water carting throughout the day.
People are being urged to store water if it is still available and to use it sparingly while repairs are underway.
WAF has apologised for the inconvenience and says its teams are working around the clock to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.
