Tabuya was one of three Deputy Party Leaders appointed before the 2022 General Elections.
The motion was moved during the Nasinu Branch AGM held at the Wakanisila Methodist Church Hall.
Party members who attended the AGM overwhelmingly agreed that Tabuya should be reinstated as a Deputy Party Leader, saying the party’s executive mostly consists of men.
One member said he had raised the issue during last year’s Central AGM but had not received any feedback on his concerns.
Members also said reinstating Tabuya in the position would demonstrate inclusion within the party and show that the People’s Alliance supports women’s empowerment.
Tabuya, who led the meeting, left the venue while members discussed a way forward on the motion to have her reinstated as a Deputy Party Leader.
Discussions also focused on encouraging young people to register for the upcoming elections so they can have a say in the leadership and changes they want to see in Fiji.
While opening the meeting, Tabuya gave members an update on the party’s election preparations, informing members that its National AGM will be held on the 31st of next month and that they should be prepared for it.
She also highlighted that the party will kick-start its activities for the upcoming elections next month, including fundraising events such as a prayer breakfast, volleyball tournaments and other activities.
Tabuya also spoke about the Constitutional Review Report, saying that it has now been presented to the President, who has issued a warrant for the report to be tabled in Parliament.
She said the report will be tabled in Parliament next Tuesday during a special sitting.
Tabuya added that after the report is tabled in Parliament, the Constitutional Amendment Bill will then be tabled during the sitting at the end of the month.
