Fiji Airways has reinstated direct flights between Nadi and Nouméa, New Caledonia, to strengthen connectivity across the Pacific.
The airline says the Nadi-Nouméa service will operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays, adding more than 10,000 seats annually between Fiji and New Caledonia.
Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Paul Scurrah says the return of the service is an important milestone for the airline and the wider Pacific region which reinforces Fiji's position as a connecting hub for the Pacific.
Scurrah says travellers from New Caledonia will also be able to connect through Nadi to Fiji Airways' wider network across the Pacific, New Zealand, Asia, Australia and North America.
He says the service will make it easier for people to travel between Fiji and New Caledonia for holidays, business and to visit family.
He says Nouméa and Suva are also home to a number of key Pacific intergovernmental and development organisations, with the route providing another travel option for professionals, delegates, consultants and development partners travelling across the region.
Scurrah says passengers can connect through Nadi to destinations including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Honolulu, Sydney, Auckland, Singapore and Hong Kong.
The twice-weekly service starts today and will be operated using Fiji Link's ATR 72-600 aircraft.
