Concerns have been raised following a car fire at Namaka Public School in Nadi last night, where members of the public were seen scrambling to put out the blaze.
A video shared widely on social media, shows several people rushing towards the burning vehicle in an attempt to extinguish the fire, while others could be seen searching for fire extinguishers.
The incident has sparked questions and concerns among members of the public regarding the safety measures in place at the event, particularly why adequate fire safety equipment was seemingly not readily available when the emergency occurred.
Questions have also been raised about how events of this nature continue to take place every year and whether sufficient safety requirements are being met and properly enforced before approval is granted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Members of the public are now questioning the event organisers over the apparent lack of readily available fire extinguishers and what emergency response measures were in place to deal with such incidents.
Some have gone as far as calling for the show to be stopped, arguing that public safety must come before entertainment and that proper safety precautions should be a priority at all times.
We have reached out to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the Fiji Police Force for a response regarding the incident and the safety requirements surrounding events of this nature.
We are awaiting for a response.
