The new gym equipment will be shared between the school and the Taveuni Rugby Union, giving students and rugby players access to better training resources.
Bucalevu Secondary School Assistant Head of School Romanu says the lack of proper training facilities has been a challenge for students preparing for sporting competitions.

He says the new equipment will help students improve their strength and fitness and better prepare for competitions.
Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru, who handed over the equipment, has encouraged young people to use sport to remain active and stay away from drugs.
Saukuru says the gym should be used to help young people develop their sporting abilities and improve their performance.

During the same event, 11 students received certificates and medals after completing the Bronze Award of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
