Vunimono High School’s Under-19 girls side claimed the Extra Fiji Football Association Southern Secondary Schools Futsal Championship 2026 title with a commanding 3–0 victory against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School.

The side remained unbeaten throughout the competition, with captain Seruwaia Laulaba scoring two goals in the decider, while national Under-17 representative Salanieta Vosadora added the third to seal the victory.

Head coach Elvis Goundar commended his players' efforts, saying the team is now focused on the next stage of the competition.

He says the competition will be tougher at the next stage, with zonal champions and runners-up from the West, North and South set to compete.

Meanwhile, both teams will meet again in the Under-17 grade final today at 4pm at the Fiji FA Futsal Court in Vatuwaqa.

The national finals will be held next week at the Fiji FA Futsal Court and FMF Gymnasium in Suva, featuring teams across the Under-17 and Under-19 grades for both boys and girls.
