Lelean U19 back to the drawing board in bid to restore Deans glory

It is back to the drawing board for the Lelean Memorial School Under 19 side as they look to restore their former glory heading into this weekend’s Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Super Deans final.

Under 19 Coach Peni Vakatawakoula highlighted this following their 36-27 semi-final victory over Ratu Navula College in Lautoka.

Vakatawakoula says they are looking forward to the final this weekend, adding that playing on the big stage is nothing new to the side.

He says heading into the semi-final, they knew they had to be tough and tighten up their defence and attacking patterns.

Vakatawakoula says these are areas they will continue to work on this week as they prepare to face Navatu Secondary School, who have made history as the first team from the Northern Division to reach a Deans final.

He says they firstly want to thank the Lord for giving them the strength, power and knowledge to secure the victory against a quality Ratu Navula side.

The coach says the players also wore black armbands in memory of Lelean old scholar Saimoni Vunilagi, who recently passed away in Japan, and extended their deepest condolences to his family.

Lelean Memorial School will face Navatu Secondary in the Under 19 final, with the time yet to be confirmed.

In the Under 18 final, Lelean will take on Suva Grammar School.
