Labasa ready for Fiji FACT challenge
Fresh from their stint with Bula FC in the inaugural OFC Professional League, Christopher Wasasala and Joji Vuakaca will be among the key players expected to spearhead Extra Supermarket Labasa FC's defence of the BiC Fiji FACT title on home soil.

The defending champions enter the tournament carrying the hopes of the North and the confidence that comes with being the team to beat after securing their fifth Fiji FACT title in 2025.

Labasa returns to Subrail Park, determined to successfully defend its crown in front of the passionate Babasiga faithful, whose unwavering support has been a major factor in the district's success over the years.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Alvin Chand, the Babasiga Lions have assembled a squad that blends experience, youth and international quality.

The defending champions have strengthened significantly with the signing of Papua New Guinea internationals Rex Naime and Joseph Joe from Hekari United FC, while former Ba midfielder Ilaisa Nayasi and experienced defender Samuela Navoce have also joined the squad.

Labasa's goalkeeping department features experienced campaigners Simione Tamanisau, Jitoko Vulava and Joji Vuakaca.

The defensive unit includes Iliesa Lino, Simione Ragoneturaga, Iowance Matanisiga, Gerard Avock, Melvin Mani, Lekima Gonerau, Ryan David and Navoce.

In midfield, Jone Lalagavesi, Nayasi, Ashnil Raju, Navitesh Kumar, Akemi Ralulu, France Catarogo and Taniela Waqa to control proceedings, while Wasasala, Jovesa Uqe, Naime and Joe are expected to provide the attacking threat.

Labasa is one of the most successful districts in Fiji FACT history, having won the competition in 1992, 1997, 1999, 2015 and 2025. The Babasiga Lions have also finished runners-up on nine occasions.

The defending champions open their title defence against Glamada Suva FC at 7.30pm tomorrow before taking on Navua FC at 6pm on Saturday.

They will then face traditional rivals Rewa FC at 3pm on Sunday in what is expected to be one of the standout matches of the group stage.

In tomorrow's matches, Lautoka will play Nasinu at 1pm, Ba will face Nadroga at 3pm, while Rewa will take on Navua at 5pm.

The semi finals and final will be held next weekend.
