Ivory Coast have taken a 1-0 lead over Germany at half time in their FIFA World Cup Group E match at Toronto Stadium.
Midfielder Franck Kessie broke the deadlock in the 30th minute to give the Africans the advantage in a match that could play a major role in deciding the Group E standings.
Germany came into the match full of confidence after thrashing Curaçao 7-1 in their opening pool game, while Ivory Coast edged Ecuador 1-0 in their first outing.
Germany are making their 21st FIFA World Cup appearance and are four-time world champions, having won the title in 1954, 1974, 1990 and 2014. They are currently ranked 10th in the FIFA World Rankings.
Ivory Coast are featuring in their fourth FIFA World Cup and are seeking a place in the knockout stages for the first time. The Elephants are currently ranked 41st in the FIFA World Rankings.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands hammered Sweden 5-1 earlier this morning.
Ecuador will meet Curaçao at 12pm, while Tunisia and Japan will go head-to-head at 4pm.
