Lisa Cakaubulisuva of Suva Grammar School powered through to claim first place in the Senior Girls 400 metres heats at the Coca-Cola Games, delivering a strong performance at the HFC Bank Stadium.
Cakaubulisuva had won the Blue Ribbon event at the Grammar interhouse earlier in the year.
Running in lane seven at the Coca-Cola Games, Cakaubulisuva admitted the race was challenging, particularly with the pressure of the crowd, but she pushed through to secure the top spot in her heat.
Reflecting on her performance, she acknowledged the crucial role of her support system, thanking her family and coaches for guiding her preparation.
With the heats behind her, Cakaubulisuva says she has now set her sights on winning in the next stage of the competition.
The girls' 400 metres finals will be held from 3pm tomorrow.
