Fiji Sports Council CEO, Gilbert Vakalalabure and Manager of Operations, Litia Senibulu have been sacked by the Council's board.
Speaking to fijivillage News, the Council's lawyers, Haniff Tuitoga Lawyers confirmed that Vakalalabure and Senibulu were terminated at the end of last month.
Lawyer, Tomasi Tuitoga says they were terminated without cause.
Deputy Chairman of the Fiji Sports Council, Peter Mazey had earlier said that the whole audit report will go to the Police Criminal Investigations Department due to a search warrant served to the Fiji Sports Council.
The Fiji Sports Council Board had signed on independent investigators, Pherrus Financial Services to look into the allegations against Gilbert Vakalalabure and Litia Senibulu.
According to the Terms of Reference of the investigation, they looked into the contra deals with Fiji Airways and others, the Fiji Sports Council U20's Rugby 7's Hamilton Trip, the Sports Council U20's Sevens Team and Council Sponsored Sports Tournaments and the restructure of operations and staffing including pay rises, the appointment as Executive Chairman of Gilbert Vakalalabure indefinitely, CEO appointment, driver overtime for private use, staff engagement, contracts and tender processes, and motor vehicles, the alleged rampant mismanagement and unauthorised expenses, response to Board resolution, staff concerns and reported breaches of policy and or law, and the agreement with Infinite Power Clean Energy Ltd, SportsWorx Agreement – Brett Jenkins and Pacific Procurement Management and Investment Services.
The investigations included several issues of actions and decisions taken without Board approval like the concerning substandard work done on the HFC Stadium tracks a few years ago and the failed $115 million Infinite Power Clean Energy (Fiji) Ple Limited wind turbine plan.
The issues mainly deal with alleged conflict of interest and decisions being made without the Sports Council Board's approval.
There are reports coming in that Gilbert Vakalalabure is out of the country.
