Fiji National Futsal head coach, José Gerrado has officially launched the selection process for the Fiji U16 Futsal Team as preparations ramp up for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

Fiji will make its debut after securing a direct qualification spot.

More than 30 boys and girls participated in the opening day of trials at the Fiji FA Futsal Court in Suva today.

Gerrado says the strong turnout reflects the growing interest in futsal among young athletes.

He says the turnout today shows how much passion our young players have.

He says he saw a lot of raw talent, but what impressed him most was their hunger to learn.

The coach says they are not just looking for skills but for commitment, discipline, and the right attitude to represent Fiji on the Olympic stage.
