Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer Koli Sewabu says no formal reports or complaints have been brought to his attention regarding allegations of an unprofessional environment within the Flying Fijians camp.
Sewabu made the comments in response to questions from fijivillage News following reports alleging the team environment has been unprofessional, with little planning and organisation, while players were allegedly being treated more like children than elite athletes.
The reports also claimed inappropriate language and a communication style described by those close to the camp as unprofessional, condescending and unacceptable.
Responding to the allegations, Sewabu says Fiji Rugby has established governance and reporting processes to ensure any concerns relating to player welfare, team management or high-performance operations are raised, assessed and addressed through the appropriate channels.
He says no formal complaint or issue of the nature described has been brought to his attention through those established processes.
Sewabu says it would therefore be inappropriate to comment on or speculate about allegations that have not been formally presented or verified.
He says players, coaches and management all have a responsibility to uphold the values and standards expected of Fiji Rugby, and where genuine concerns exist, they should be raised through the appropriate mechanisms so they can be properly considered.
The FRU CEO says the union has full confidence in its governance structures to deal with any matters professionally, fairly and confidentially, adding that any formal concerns raised will receive the attention and due process they deserve.
As the team prepares to take on Scotland tomorrow morning, Sewabu says the immediate focus remains on the match, with preparations progressing well and the union looking forward to a strong performance.
He also thanked the Fijian community across the United Kingdom for their continued support, saying their encouragement has been a tremendous source of strength for the Flying Fijians.
The Flying Fijians will take on Scotland at 1.10am tomorrow.
In other matches today, the All Blacks will host Ireland at 7.10pm, Japan will take on France at 8.40pm, and the Wallabies will face Italy at 10.10pm.
South Africa will meet Wales at 3.40am, while England will take on Argentina at 7.10am tomorrow.
