FRU Acting CEO awaiting green light from legal team before responding to Malolo

Fiji Rugby Union Acting CEO, Koli Sewabu says he is awaiting the green light from their legal team before he responds to Malolo Rugby Union and their stakeholders in the media.

Sewabu says he would like to deal with that as soon as possible before they break off for the year as he wants to start the new year fresh, leaving 2025 behind and finding better ways to move forward in a professional manner.

He says there has been a lot of issues this year with regards to their game management, Terms Of Participation, with regards to compliance issues from their unions.

The Acting CEO says there were only two unions that were fully compliant this year and they are Nadi and Ba.

He says if the FRU comes out and takes a hard stance on allowing the game to happen or not based on those compliances, then there will be no games and the players will get impacted.

Sewabu says Malolo has had an amazing story this year to come from the Vanua Competition to the Skipper Cup and for that, Fiji Rugby is always grateful.

He says what transpired over the last couple of weeks is disappointing in a way, and the way it was done.

The Acting CEO says they tried to reach out to Malolo Rugby initially, straight after the Skipper Cup finals because of what unfolded then.

He says the posts started coming over the weekend.

Malolo had raised how much revenue came in from the gate takings and how the money was being paid out.

Sewabu says he cannot speak specifically on some of the things that Malolo Rugby has brought up, but reassures that their legal team is looking at that and they will respond accordingly.
