William leaves the streets to pursue his career in rugby
20-year-old Aporosa William

20-year-old Aporosa William who left the group of street kids he was living with for the past three years is now trying to pursue a career in rugby.

In an interview with fijivillage News, William says he was living on the streets of Suva since 2022 after leaving a boarding school.

He says at the beginning of this year, he went to Nakavu Village in Namosi which is his father's maternal village and joined the Nakavu Rugby team.

The 20-year-old says he made his debut in the Fiji Bitter Tabadamu 7s in Sigatoka this year.

William says he quit smoking and drinking when he started playing rugby so that he could prove himself to the team and contribute to the growth of a grassroot team.

He further says rugby has moulded him to become a better person.

The aspiring rugby player says if young people want to have a better future, they need to avoid peer pressure and have a positive mindset to achieve their goal.

The 20-year-old says his main focus is to one day wear the white jersey.

Williams adds the Nakavu team is preparing for the Lomaiviti 7s, Wairiki 7s and McDonald Coral Coast 7s next month.
