It would take a brave person to bet against Waisake Naholo starting on the right‑wing in the first All Blacks test against the British and Irish Lions.
The Fiji‑born wing did not just put up his hand for the No 14 jersey during the Highlanders' thrilling 23‑22 win against the Lions last night but he proved his case to All Blacks coach Steve Hansen.
Naholo says he is hopeful that he did make a statement ahead of the first test match.
Naholo scored a try, made a run of 60 metres in the match with his power and elusiveness, was solid under the high ball and made a key breakdown steal.
The British and Irish Lions will now play the Maori All Blacks at 7.35pm this Saturday.
