Wainiqolo believes Deans competition is getting tougher every year

Wainiqolo believes Deans competition is getting tougher every year

Fiji Water Flying Fijians winger Jiuta Wainiqolo believes that the competitiveness in the Vodafone Deans competition keeps progressing every year, and he feels this year will be significantly different from previous years.

Wainiqolo was at Suva Grammar School grounds yesterday to watch the Vodafone Southern Zone Schools Rugby semi finals and says the intensity was high in all the matches.

He says this is a positive sign for school rugby in Fiji as there have been developments seen over the years.

He adds that it was evident when Suva Grammar School played Nasinu Secondary Schools in the U18 semi finals, as both teams fought tooth and nail and exceeded expectations with the brand of rugby they played yesterday.

Grammar overcame Nasinu 18-16 to book a Southern Zone final showdown with rivals Marist Brothers High School, who defeated Nabua Secondary School 26-15 in the first semi final.

When asked about his thoughts on the upcoming Eastern Zone U18 final between Queen Victoria School and Ratu Kadavulevu School, Wainiqolo says the rivalry is still there, and believes RKS is making a strong statement with their unbeaten run this season. Wainiqolo wishes all the teams that have qualified for the final in their respective zones all the best and hopes to see more young talent emerge through school rugby in Fiji.
