Tui Kamikamica finally turns dreams into reality

Vodafone Fiji Bati Captain and Melbourne Storm prop Tui Kamikamica

Growing up in his village in Somosomo, Taveuni, Vodafone Fiji Bati Captain and Melbourne Storm prop Tui Kamikamica always dreamt that one day he would play for the Bati in front of his families and friends at home.

Two decades later, the 30-year-old had his dreams turned into reality but in a more special way as he was given the honour to lead the Bati out in their first-ever home game in 23 years last week against the PNG Kumuls in round 1 of the Pacific Rugby League Bowl Championship.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Kamikamica says it was an emotional moment for him to run out and see all the fans turning out in numbers and cheering them on.

He says it brought back some memories when he used to watch all the Fiji teams when he was a child back in the village.

Kamikamica now has another tough task ahead this weekend along with his Bati teammates as they will try and topple the visiting Cook Islands Aitu in round 2 of the competition to keep their Bowl Championship title hopes alive.

The Bati will then hope that the Aitu will defeat the PNG Kumuls next weekend with a bigger margin to send the competition into a decider.

The Bati will take on the Cook Islands Aitu at 8.10pm this Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
