Contrary to the Samoa Rugby Union’s refusal to confirm or deny reports that Sir Gordon Tietjens is the new coach of the Manu Samoa Sevens, the Samoa Observer says the man himself has arrived in Samoa.
A picture of him with the Union's Chief Executive Officer, Faleomavaega Fepulea’i, arriving at the Airport confirmed the worst kept secret in the country.
Earlier this week, Faleomavaega said an official announcement should be made at the end of the week.
Up until this point, the Samoan Rugby Union has also not been able to confirm whether Tietjens has applied for the job.
Faleomavaega says they saw reports on the paper that Tietjens said the rugby union has sought his help but they had not done that.
Reports have also linked Tietjens to the national coaching job with Kenya.
The Daily Nation in Kenya said Tietjens would be their next coach with an announcement to be made later today after the deal was sealed earlier in the week.
But Radio New Zealand reported Tietjens had been in Samoa inspecting facilities where a deal there could also be announced on Friday.
