The Vodafone Fiji Bati 9s side will want to maintain the consistency of winning gold at the Pacific Games.

Manager Akuila Masi says they are motivated by the achievement of the team that won gold at the Pacific Games in Samoa back in 2019 and they want to repeat the feat this year. Masi says the coaching staff have so much confidence in the team that has been selected to represent the country at this year’s event.

He says the team is made up of local-based players from the local competition and the majority of them are participating in their first Pacific Games with only two players coming in for their second Pacific Games competition.

Masi says their first game against Tonga will not be an easy one knowing what the Tongans are capable of.

The Fiji Bati side will take on Tonga at 5.40pm this afternoon.

They will then take on Samoa at 7.20pm in their second match before playing the Solomon Islands at 4pm tomorrow in their third match.

They will take on the Cook Islands at 8.10pm tomorrow in their last match.

The bronze match will be at 7.30pm Wednesday and the gold medal final will be at 8pm Wednesday.

Meanwhile, The Fiji Bulikula 9s side will play Samoa at 4.50pm in their first match today.

They will take on Tonga at 6.55pm this evening, they will then play Vanuatu at 8.10pm later tonight in their third match.

The Bulikulas will play the Cook Islands at 4.50pm tomorrow before they play host the Solomon Islands at 7.45pm in their final match.

The semi final will be at 5.30pm tomorrow, the bronze final will be at 6pm tomorrow and the gold medal final will be at 6.30pm tomorrow.
