Defending Coca-Cola Suva Zone 2 champions Suva Grammar School

Defending Coca-Cola Suva Zone 2 champions Suva Grammar School will field a total of 173 athletes for the zone at the ANZ Stadium tomorrow.

While speaking to fijivillage, the Grammarian Lions head coach Jone Delai says the atmosphere in Grammar is normal but the students know deep down inside that they have a job to do and they are prepared to compete.

Delai says they started their preparations in November with a small training squad but stayed focused despite the restrictions and struggles and slowly built on the team.

George Simpson who will run in the senior boys 400m and 4x400m will captain the Grammar boys while senior triple jumper Soko Tuisese will captain their girls.

Grammar are on a three year winning streak after winning the girls division of Suva Zone 2 in 2019, 2020, and 2021 while their boys are on a two year streak with wins in 2020 and 2021.

Meanwhile, Suva Grammar School and Ratu Latianara College are currently leading the medal tally of Suva Zone 2 after the completion of the 3,000 metres final at the Grammar grounds.

Jope Rotabuwere of Grammar won gold in the boys 3,000 metres with a time of 10 minutes and 44 seconds while Tevita Dave of Marist Brothers High School and Mikaele Qiolevu of Grammmar won silver and bronze respectively.

In the girls 3,000 metres, Ratu Latianara College won gold and silver with Joana Ratuva coming first with a time of 13 minutes and 18 seconds while Miriama Saudromu came second and Saurara Tadulala of Grammar took the bronze.

Suva Zone 2 will resume tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium.

Stay with us for all the action.
