Highlanders' first‑five eighth Lima Sopoaga is in doubt for tomorrow’s South Island derby against the Crusaders in Christchurch with a calf injury.
The 26‑year‑old sat out training on Tuesday, and Highlanders coach Tony Brown has bracketed him on the bench with former Christchurch Boys' High School pivot Fletcher Smith.
Before returning during his team's match against the Force a fortnight ago in Perth, Sopoaga hadn't played since injuring his hamstring against the Blues on March 11.
The Highlanders will take on the Crusaders at 2.35pm tomorrow, in other matches the Blues will face the Reds at 7.35pm tonight, the Chiefs will take on the Waratahs at 5.05pm tomorrow while the Hurricanes will meet the Force at 11.55pm tomorrow.
