As you prepare to represent Fiji on the international stage, I urge you to remember the values and principles that have shaped our rugby legacy.

Those were the words of the Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru while bidding farewell to the Fiji Water Flying Fijians team at the Tanoa International Hotel, Nadi before they embark on their World Cup journey.

He says the dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to the sport shown by the team have made our nation proud time and time again.

Saukuru says over the years, the Flying Fijians have become a symbol of resilience, unity, and excellence and with every match played, they have showcased the true spirit of Fijian rugby while inspiring countless individuals, both young and old, across Fiji.

He adds Fijians have no doubt that each member of the team possesses the talent, skill, and determination to conquer any challenge that comes their way.

Saukuru has urged the team to let humility guide their actions, respect their opponents, and play with the utmost sportsmanship as they are not only ambassadors for rugby but also the entire nation.

He has reassured the team that the entire nation stands behind them, united in spirit and support.

The Flying Fijians left our shores yesterday for their test matches against France and England before their first RWC pool clash against Wales next month.

The Flying Fijians will play France at 7.05am next Sunday before heading over to Twickenham Stadium on the 27th of this month to take on England.

Fiji’s first World Cup match against Wales will be on the 11th of September at 7am.

Meanwhile, the first RWC game will be between France and the All Blacks on the 9th of September at 7.15am.
