Financial constraints and lack of training resources have failed to dampen the spirits of the Niusawa Methodist High School from Taveuni Under 16 girls side from reaching for greater heights in this year’s Weet-Bix Raluve Secondary Schools Competition.

Coach Setareki Hawea says it has been a tough journey for them this year leading up to tomorrow’s game and they are grateful for all the opportunities that came with the struggles they had to overcome.

Hawea says this is the first time for most of the players to be participating in a huge competition like this and they are excited about this opportunity.

He says most of their players have never played rugby before as they were picked from netball and it was also a huge challenge to teach them basic rugby skills which they managed to finally get a hold of.

Hawea says they are confident of a positive outcome tomorrow and are calling on all their supporters in Suva to come out in numbers to support the team.

Niusawa will take on Naitasiri Secondary School under 16 at 10am tomorrow at Buckhurst Park 1.

In other under 16 Raluve quarter finals, Votualevu College will take on Adi Cakobau School, Lelean Memorial School will take on Labasa Sangam at 11am and Sigatoka Methodist will play Nasinu Secondary School at 9am at Bidesi Grounds.

Meanwhile, in the Raluve under-18 competition, Natabua Secondary will take on Nasinu Secondary School at 10am, Lomary Secondary School will play Bucalevu at 11am, Jasper Williams will battle ACS at noon, and Dawasamu Secondary will play Khalsa College at 1.
