Defending Coca-Cola Games champions Marist Brothers High School coach Antonio Raboiliku has applauded the level of competition shown by the athletes, who are participating in the Coca-Cola Suva Zone 2 competition this year.

Raboiliku also commended the efforts shown by the athletes of their rival school, Suva Grammar School, coming into this zone competition and said they really learnt their lessons from last year and are coming back stronger this year.

He says, as an athletics coach, he could see the determination brought in by athletes of all the schools participating in Zone 2 this year and hopes that it will rise to another level next year.

When asked about their goal for the Coca-Cola Games as defending champions, Raboiliku says they are determined to defend their title again this year, and he believes in the potential that his athletes have.

He says there are four weeks to go, and there are no signs of disappointment from his athletes, but they will still work on improving some areas they need to improve.

He adds last year, they focused too much on the tracks, but this year, they want to balance it out with the field events.

Raboiliku is calling out all the Marist fans and supporters to keep supporting the athletes as they look forward to the Coca-Cola Games this year.

Meanwhile, Semesa Caginivalu of Grammar won the Senior boys' blue ribbon event with an unofficial time of 10.13 seconds, while Iva Fifita, also from Grammar, won the Senior girls 100 metres event with a time of 12.78 seconds.

Marist continues to lead the boys' overall medal tally with 11 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze, Grammar is second with 4 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze while Ratu Latianara College and Nuku Secondary School are in 3rd place with 1 gold and 1 bronze each.

In the girls' division, Grammar currently leads with 8 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze, St Joseph's is in second place with 5 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze while Rampur College and Ratu Simione Matanitobua College are in 3rd place with 2 gold each.
