QVS high jumper Nauvasi wins gold for his brothers back in school

After going through some tough challenges in adjusting from rugby to athletics, Queen Victoria School student Maleli Nauvasi achieved his dream of winning gold for his brothers, who are still in school at Matavatucou.

The 17-year-old student, who is originally from Dratabu in Nadi, says the challenges he faced after being away from his family motivated him to win the senior boy's high jump event with a jump of 1.80 metres.

He says one thing that motivated him to win gold today is the sacrifices made by his family.

He adds that he has won 3 gold medals in the past three years while participating in the Tailevu Zone, and this year, he will give his best to win a gold medal in the upcoming Coca-Cola Games.

The Coca-Cola Games will be held from the 2nd to the 4th of next month.
