The Police Rugby 7s team is stepping up their preparations for this weekend's 47th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament.

Head Coach Sale Tubuna says they have been assessing their performance in the previous tournaments they have participated in this year, and they will be looking to patch up the holes.

He says they had to dig deep in trying to field two strong teams for the Marist 7s tournament last year as most of their key players were unavailable for selections due to injuries and also players being called for National duties.

Sale says, with the current depth of players they have now and with some of their key players like Josevani Soro, Terio Tamani, Apenisa Cakaubalavu, Suliano Volivoli, and Livai Ikanikoda in the squad, he is confident they will have a positive outcome this weekend.

He also says they are trying to develop young players as well so they can make a name for themselves in the big arena.

Police will be fielding two teams again this year which are Police Blue and Police White.

Last year, Police Blue fell short in the Marist 7s cup final after losing to the Fiji Development side 33-7.

Police Blue is in pool K alongside Army Red and Marist, while Police White is in pool I with Fiji 1 and Kombat Uluinakau.

The Marist 7s tournament will kick off tomorrow with the Women’s and the Under 21’s competition, while the men’s competition begins on Friday.

A total of 47 games will be played on Day 1 of the Marist 7s.
